With 5G connectivity almost upon us, Openet is working with customers now to develop ways to monetize the new services that 5G will enable. Dublin-based Openet provides Digital Business Support Systems (BSS) that enable service providers to create new revenue from digital services, improve customer engagement, and be ready for opportunities from 5G. From monetizing content and data services over 4G to enabling innovative enterprise IoT offers over 5G, Openet provides fast and agile solutions that allow service providers to be more responsive, innovative, and enjoy a quicker time to value. “Over the last couple of years, telecom companies have been undergoing massive changes, they are now providing music services, TV services and some are even becoming banks,” said Jonathan Plant, Senior Marketing Manager, Openet. “All these new digital services mean that the telecoms business is being transformed, and with 5G starting to be introduced, this is going to create even more opportunities for our customers and us.” Openet was founded in 1999 and has been at the forefront of the telecoms industry since its foundation. Six of the top 10 operators in the world use Openet solutions. The Openet BSS suite is open and agile, which means the company can roll out highly technical customer solutions faster and more cost-effectively than their competitors; and that Openet customers can achieve quicker ROI and monetize their service more effectively. “A recent study by a large telecom group said that Openet has the world’s best charging system — this is something that we are very proud of,” said Plant. “We have proven our credibility with our customer base, and have had more than 150 patents granted worldwide, we’re well-positioned to continue to grow our business and capabilities.” Plant explained that Openet has had a healthy U.S. customer list since its foundation. A significant portion of their revenue comes from U.S. clients. Openet takes a very collaborative development approach with all customers. They work to deeply understand the customer’s needs and take on the challenge of finding the best solution possible. “What started the company was that we were offering a solution that nobody else had at the time. Since then, we’ve been able to evolve our solutions to suit their needs and grow along with them,” added Plant. “Some of our U.S. clients are significantly ahead of the curve in terms of technology, so this enables us to develop our solutions and then roll them out on a global scale after the U.S.” With 5G connectivity almost upon us, Openet is working with customers now to develop ways to monetize the new services that 5G will enable. Openet is developing data solutions that will allow service providers to be creative and unique in the market, and deliver the best quality of service to their customers. This summer, Openet announced that a leading U.S. operator selected the Openet data management solution to connect and manage a complex, multi-party ecosystem for the delivery of globally connected car services. When asked what it’s like to be an Irish company on the world stage for the telecom business, Plant explained that culturally, Irish and U.S. companies have excellent working relationships with shared goals and a common vision for the future, which helps both sides. “Ireland has a world-renowned culture of education and hard work, but we also know how to enjoy ourselves,” said Plant. “Politically, Ireland is a very stable country with a stable economy, and with almost 60 million diasporas worldwide. This all helps the fact that Irish people are so well-liked on a global scale — and our customers love coming to Ireland to meet us and explore some of the great tourist sites we have to offer.” Read more on irishadvantage.us
