Policy management software market grows 41% in 2011
marzo 26, 2011 - Openet
Global sales of policy management software reached USD 589 million 2011, up 41 percnet from the previous year, according to a report by Infonetics Research. The global policy management market is expected to top USD 1.9 billion by 2016. Most policy management spending is in the wireless market. The report also indicates that many operators in more developed markets continue to make policy vendor selections in conjunction with LTE trials and deployments. Meanwhile, a growing number of policy deployments are being made to address near-term concerns and specific pain points like network congestion, the desire to deliver value-added services, and the need to comply with regulatory requirements. The report further shows that Openet ended 2011 in the lead position in the policy management software market once again, followed by Huawei, Tekelec and Amdocs (formerly Bridgewater Systems). Vendor market share shifts are expected in 2012, mainly due to mergers and acquisitions. Operators will use policy management to launch new capabilities via secure APIs with third-parties, such as guaranteed video quality for streaming video for over-the-top providers. The skyrocketing number of machine-to-machine (M2M) connections over the next several years is expected to boost growth in the policy management market, as operators use policy services to identify, track, and manage M2M traffic.
