Openet Unveils Video Manager

DUBLIN -- Openet, the leading provider of Service Optimization Software (SOS) to tier one communications and media service providers, today announced its Intelligent Video Management Solution, which incorporates video management into holistic network policy. The solution differentiates between sources of video content, including content from over-the-top (OTT) providers, assesses delivery optimization based on subscriber plans and network needs, and enables operators to create new partner business models with content providers.
Video content currently represents up to 50 percent of Internet traffic according to Cisco’s Global Data Forecast, and this number is growing. To manage the pressure video places on the network, operators have traditionally implemented video optimization solutions independent of the policy management platform that reduce traffic on individual nodes. However, these node-specific policies local to the video optimization solution are not synchronized as part of a larger policy management strategy for video—in fact, video optimization and policy management solutions are often deployed separately. Openet’s Intelligent Video Management Solution enables cohesive policy management across the entire network, including individual nodes designed to optimize video traffic.
“As collaboration with content providers becomes critical to operators’ success, they need to ensure that their networks can handle the influx of robust content,” said Openet CMO Mike Manzo. “Right now, the huge costs associated with augmenting network capacity are an operator’s biggest liability, and a challenge that can inhibit network performance and slow the traction of new business models. Openet’s Intelligent Video Management Solution is another way for these partnerships to be successful for the business, for the network and for the consumer.”
