“Operators are only too aware how reduced churn and growing revenues are intertwined with the happiness of their existing subscriber base – but traditionally retention and upsell campaigns were based on historical information and delivered on a pre-planned schedule that offered limited opportunity for personalization. At this year’s MWC we expect to see a greater focus not just on the ‘how’ of personalization but also on the ‘when’ – that is, real-time. Context is king, and we think that context – coupled with real-time offers and the flexibility to “buy now” on devices – will be a big focus for operators at MWC 2015 who want to increase their revenue and keep customers happy. At MWC I expect to talk to many more CMOs and marketers who are now looking to leverage real-time BSS to drive new offers, reduce time to market and make these offers personal and context aware.”

“New phenomena such as virtualization herald the opportunity for operators to move away from legacy systems, enabling them to quickly develop, test and launch new innovative offers and products. Cost reduction remains a key driver for this BSS transformation, but at this year’s Mobile World Congress we expect to see a decisive shift – with marketers now pushing for new services in a shorter time. Marketing teams will no longer accept exceptionally long delivery times to bring innovative offers to market – and the new tools enabled by virtualization will begin to open up the playing field. Virtualization is going to be a big theme at MWC with an increasing number of operators looking to apply NFV to their BSS stacks.”
At MWC 2015 Openet will be providing demos of their policy, charging and IG products, as well as showing a demo of virtualized BSS as part of the ETSI NFV initiative. Niall Norton has also been invited to speak at the at the ‘Unifying Network IT and Telco IT’ session, which will be held in Hall 4 Auditorium 5,Thursday 5 March 11.30 – 13.00 CET. Niall will be discussing how virtualized BSS opens up new opportunities for operators by removing old IT constraints.
