By investing early in being Cloud-native Openet has set the pace for innovation in BSS design. It is not just about associating network BSS software with taglines such as “Cloud” or “Containers”. The myriad of true benefits from being ‘cloud native’ come from a revolution in software design and delivery. Before the rest of the BSS industry, Openet went through this revolution, and over two focussed years re-built their BSS software to be ready for digital and 5G. This included reconstructing our software from scratch to be Cloud-Native. Service providers have been running Openet’s BSS on the Cloud when other vendors’ cloud plans were or are still on the drawing board. As well as being Cloud-native Cloud-native Openet software is live in multiple production networks, microservices based, real-time, automated, Open API driven and supports Open Digital Architecture. This enables Openet customers to innovate faster, reduce costs and launch, monetise and manage new digital and 5G offers faster than their competitors.
Built for Cloud: Built for Change
Infinite Scalability: Infinite Opportunities
Digital and 5G services are designed to run on the Cloud. Openet’s Digital BSS software runs on public, hybrid and private clouds and we partner with market leaders like AWS and Microsoft Azure. Using a combination of open source software such as Docker, Kubernetes, elasticsearch and Kafka, along with Openet’s own software we deliver maximum effectiveness and ensure a low cost of ownership. Proven to be infinitely scalable Openet’s Digital BSS delivers the agility needed to imagine the infinite opportunities from 5G and turn them into a business reality.
Containerisation
Uses Kubenetes to orchestrate Openet microservices in containers
Configuration over Customisation
Low code, rules driven systems lowers costs and increases agility.
Open-source
Use of Open-source for packaging, deploying and monitoring
Updates not Upgrades
Continuous microservices updates ensure faster time to market and no downtime
SBA & RESTful APIs
Service based architecture and RESTful APIs ensures openness and ease of integration enabling best of breed BSS.
5G Telco Grade Service Mesh
Openet service mesh technology delivers 30% more efficiency than other comparable BSS
Now is the Time to Get Rid of High Cost Legacy Systems
Leading analyst firm, Analysys Mason reported that the global service provider spend on revenue management is almost $20 billion. Around 70% of that spend goes on support and maintenance of existing systems. That’s a huge amount of spend on legacy kit. Digital transformation and 5G are driving service providers to upgrade their BSS suites, now is the time to modernise IT stacks, increase efficiency, reduce costs and move to Cloud based Digital BSS.
Built to be Always-On – Enabling High Availability and Disaster Recovery
Openet cloud-native solutions have designed-in ‘survivability’ which matches or exceeds several decades of telecoms-grade experience in architectural and infrastructure hardening. The dual aspects of High Availability and Disaster Recovery can be solved with Openet in the various Cloud deployment modes of Public, Private, Hybrid or Multi-cloud. Tier one cloud service vendors already distribute their wares in a geographic and technical manner so as to inherently avoid massive outage scenarios. Typically, clouds have what is known as Availability Zones (AZs) or Availability Domains (ADs). These are usually different physical datacenters in the same geographic area, interconnected & highly redundant in terms of power, cooling and information storage. Openet has consciously constructed it’s microservices based solutions to leverage the tooling and availability constructs found within Cloud technologies. Openet is also explicitly leading the way in deriving advantages available from various cloud deployment strategies, notably the distribution of selected components, data and functions to the Cloud edge. Whilst most Openet components are what’s known as ‘stateless’ (therefore highly survivable in their own right), there are also several key aspects which require ‘state’ to be maintained. They are designed to provide highly available Active-Active service to Network traffic (transactions from Network functions), to facilitate geographical redundancy and provide selected functionality co-located with requesting network node(s).
