Openet enables US broadband provider to give customers usage history data
agosto 14, 2012 - Openet
Openet has announced that one of the largest providers of video, high-speed data and voice services in the United States has successfully deployed a suite of Openet products to enable its cable customers to monitor how much broadband is used each month.
Consumers are reliant on broadband for all internet activities, however, the amount of broadband needed for each consumer varies based on content and services accessed. Activities like streaming movies and playing online games require a high amount of bandwidth. To effectively meet the current and imminent demand, broadband providers must understand usage trends and be prepared to offer a variety of plans that meet consumer needs – including avoiding bill shock.
"Consumer broadband usage varies from household to household, so it is clear that a standard broadband plan might not be ideal for everyone," said Marc Price, CTO Americas at Openet. "We are excited to be working with one of the largest broadband providers in the U.S. to ensure its customers can closely monitor their broadband consumption and make an educated decision about what type of plan is best suited to help maintain a desired level of online activity."
