Policy Management – Openet Announces Newest Policy Management Software and Recent Partnership
abril 5, 2011 - Openet
Openet (News - Alert), provider of Subscriber Optimization Software (SOS (News - Alert)) for policy management, has been very busy at its home base in Dublin, Ireland, with two new key policy announcements this week.
On Monday, Openet released the latest version of its policy management software, Policy Manager 4.0.
The update software includes three advanced features including a flexible logic engine that enables operators to rapidly deploy and easily adjust policy rules; an improved, pre-populated configuration for easier administration; and expanded support for next-generation networks and services, including LTE (News - Alert) and IMS, through extended support for application layer interaction (via the Rx interface).
According to the company, its policy management software has been recognized as a best-selling network policy solution by a recent Infonetics survey.
Openet’s Policy Manager provides network transparency and enables control of network resources. The latest version provides a comprehensive, best-in-class PCRF (Policy Charging and Rules Function) solution with heightened configuration and monetization capabilities.
“First-generation policy management is long gone,” said Michael Manzo, CMO of Openet. “Today’s policy management solutions need to be flexible and easy to configure while providing a clear path to app monetization. Openet Policy Manager 4.0 provides all of these things while working hand in glove with Openet’s real-time profile and convergent charging capabilities, providing the trifecta of functionality required to truly harness the power of SOS.”
Another big announcement Openet made this week involves its recent partnership with Juniper Networks (News - Alert) to deliver increased control and flexibility through its policy and charging platform solutions.
Upon the agreement, Juniper Network will now resell Openet’s policy management and charging platforms as part of Juniper’s MobileNext solution announced in February.
According to the release, Juniper Networks will offer Openet’s Policy Manager, a fully compliant 3GPP Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF), and Online Charging System (OCS) product suite, which includes Convergent Charging, Network Edge Rating and Balance Manager. This software integration will provide increased visibility and control over network resources in real-time.
“Harnessing the innovation from the mobile ecosystem has become increasingly critical as subscribers consume more multimedia content than ever before,” said Mike Marcellin (News - Alert), vice president, product marketing and strategy, Juniper Networks. “We are pleased to partner with Openet as part of our MobileNext solution to deliver flexible policy and billing solutions to help mobile operators profitably navigate the smartphone revolution.”
