Infonetics Survey on Policy Management Names Openet Among Top Players

octubre 28, 2010 - Openet

DUBLIN, IRELAND -- 10/28/10 -- Openet, the most innovative provider of Subscriber Optimization Software to tier one communications and media service providers, has been named a top policy player in "Policy Server Deployment Strategies: Global Service Provider Survey," a report by Infonetics Research. Despite an abbreviated time in the market compared to competitors, Openet was identified as a top three vendor by survey respondents, which include operators with wireless, wireline, cable and converged networks.

Additionally, survey respondents named Openet second in terms of vendor familiarity, which measures awareness of vendor offerings. 44 percent of respondents are familiar with Openet, which Infonetics attributes to recent wins in North America and EMEA and a partnership with Cisco, as well as cutting-edge applications that combine Openet's policy and charging capabilities. These innovative applications have broadened Openet's reach within service provider organizations, raising awareness and helping the Company to gain traction.

"Operators are increasingly interested in software-based policy control solutions that can support multiple network and service types," said Shira Levine, directing analyst, next gen OSS and policy, Infonetics Research. "At the end of the day, the policy market will be dominated by best-in-breed policy control solutions that enable operators to handle policy decisions according to dynamic criteria. Our respondents are aware of Openet on multiple levels, and this indicates significant traction since Openet entered the policy space in 2008."

The report cites bandwidth consumption as a key driver for policy deployments, and predicts that policy controls will become more granular and personalized to meet operator needs for subscriber transparency and network control. Openet Policy Manager's fully compliant 3GPP Policy & Charging Rules Function (PCRF) enables operators to mitigate the challenges of high bandwidth consumption in deployments worldwide.

"Although Openet has been in the policy market a relatively short time compared to our competitors, we are not surprised by Openet's ranking in this survey," said Michael Manzo, CMO of Openet. "Our relationship with Cisco, tireless innovation and unique approach to combining policy with charging have led to win after win for policy management deployments. This survey confirms what we already know -- that Openet has quickly moved into a leadership position, and with some additional time, will dominate this market."
