Dublin, IRELAND; Thursday, 11th February 2000: Openet Telecom Ltd., which specialises in Internet Protocol mediation software for global telecoms companies and ISP's, today announced that it has successfully delivered a billing mediation solution to Nextra, a Swiss based newly formed communications provider, which is part of leading telecoms company, Telenor. A feature of the deal is that Openet implemented a fully operational billing mediation system in less than four weeks.
In a competitive bid, Nextra selected Openet's FusionWorks, an advanced billing mediation system, to support its landline telephone operations. Openet combined with Calculus Solutions' Opera CCB product to provide a solution which is installed in Nextra's network operation centre. The system communicates with switching equipment supplied by Alcatel.
Niclas Walter (Chief Executive, Nextra) stated, "Openet's FusionWorks™ was selected by Nextra for this important project after a short but detailed analysis. One of the critical criteria in our decision was the ability of FusionWorks™ to accommodate the rather fast growth that we anticipate in the Swiss telecom network. Our decision was also based on the comprehensive scope of expertise, responsiveness and short turn around time for delivery. In this extremely competitive market, time is a most valuable commodity."
Paul Fitzgerald (Head of Sales and Marketing, Calculus) added, "We believe that FusionWorks™ from Openet Telecom complements our Opera CCB and can bring added value to the customer base we target in Europe. We feel that working together through such tight deadlines with a common customer has validated our partnership with Openet."
Barry Murphy (CEO, Openet Telecom) commented, "We are very pleased that Nextra, having entrusted Openet with a critical component of their operations, were so delighted with the delivered solution. Our expertise in the network infrastructure, fast turn around time, allied to our robust and feature rich FusionWorks™ mediation solution enable us to respond quickly to companies such as Nextra and deliver tremendous business value to them."
