Billing Systems 2000 - London, April 11, 2000 - Openet Telecom and FIQAS Software B.V. today announced they are finalising a strategic collaboration with Nortel Networks* to address the ISP market in Europe providing integrated end-to-end billing, mediation and customer care with Nortel Networks' iPoP/ISP new service providers solution.
Nortel Networks' iPoP (internet Point of Presence) lowers the barriers to market entry for new Internet service providers to rapidly offer new voice and data revenue generating services. This innovative collaboration solution will provide new service providers with a pre-configured billing and mediation package enabling immediate deployment and a rapid return on the network infrastructure provided by Nortel Networks. The Nortel Networks iPoP billing solution combines the convergent mediation technology of Openet's FusionWorks™ mediation products with the Abillity® billing and customer care from FIQAS.
"This is a first solution specifically tailored for new entrant carriers, providing rapid integration of a carrier-class billing, mediation and customer care system avoiding the traditionally prohibitive costs associated with such solutions, and reducing the carrier's time to market" said Philip Hogan Openet's V.P. Business Development.
Rob Geleijn, Managing Director of FIQAS Software B.V., showed a high level of confidence in the potential of this strategic collaboration. "This joint offering to the market does not only contain a real value for money solution in terms of excellent system components, but also combines the profound experience and the high level of service that each of the participating companies has to offer on their specific field of expertise."
This totally integrated software solution has been architected from the ground up to scale as the carrier's network and subscriber base grows. The companies' combined telco experience and keen knowledge of networking and billing and customer care manifests itself in significant benefits to the new service provider including reduced time-to-customer, lower implementation costs, and faster time-to-revenue.
"Nortel Networks is creating a new, high performance Internet for its carrier and service provider customers and their consumers worldwide. This innovative solution package can provide Nortel Networks' iPoP/ISP customers with a significant reduction in time to market and in the overheads usually associated with providing billing for interconnect and retail customers" said Tim Bishop Director, Network Consulting, Professional Services EMEA, Nortel Networks.
