RESTON, Va., September 26, 2001 • Openet Telecom, the world leader in mediation, has announced the opening of its U.S. headquarters in Reston, Va. With sales offices already in San Francisco, Dallas and Orlando, Openet Telecom's new headquarters, located just outside Washington, D.C., is part of the company's U.S. expansion plan.
Openet has committed significant resources to its new headquarters, as staffing there currently includes an onsite technical manager, project managers, senior systems engineers, production support personnel and service engineers. A North American president and additional marketing and sales support will be added in the future. Reflecting Openet's international client base, this strategic location bridges the eight-hour time zone gap between clients on the West Coast and the company's world headquarters in Dublin, extending their window of availability and support.
"Openet decided to establish its new U.S. headquarters in the Washington, D.C. metro area because this is a major center for the U.S telecommunications industry," commented Barry Murphy, CEO, Openet Telecom. "Our new U.S. headquarters gives us the necessary support system to help us reach our revenue goals for the upcoming years."
Openet Telecom, which is backed by well-known venture capital firms, came to prominence in the U.S. earlier this year when it won a multi-million dollar deal with a major Tier-1 wireless carrier in North America. With approximately 16 million subscribers, this contract is believed to be one of the largest mediation deals signed to date. This operator is deploying Openet's FusionWorks™ platform as the foundation for its business support system that includes billing, customer care, data warehousing, fraud management and other related applications.
In addition, Openet Telecom was selected as "Best New Company" at Billing World 2001 and was named in a Wall Street Journal-Europe survey as a company in which European venture capitalists would most like to invest.
Openet Telecom recently moved into a new 25,000-square-foot world headquarters in Dublin, and expects to create 200 new jobs worldwide by the end of 2002. In addition to its Dublin headquarters, the company currently has employees and offices in the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Australia and the U.S.
Murphy agreed that this expansion mind-set bucks the current trend in the technology industry, but added, "We provide technology that can save telecommunications companies and mobile operators significant amounts of money in terms of operational costs, and boost revenues by enabling the rapid realization of profits from new services. With the current sluggish economy, this is exactly the time communication service providers need to be investing in mediation."
